Scarlet Banner WoW Forever beta

A Scarlet Crusade standard for your camp, hidden behind a puzzle in the Monastery. The Scarlet Banner gives no bonus: it is a trophy.

No quest, no quest giver. You pick up four echoes from four graves, in Arathi Highlands, Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows and the Monastery’s Graveyard, then lay them on four busts in its Library, in the right order. The banner then appears in the gallery.

Any class can do it, and in a group everyone picks up their own echoes. Plan on a level 30 group for the Library, and some care in the outdoor zones, which are higher level.

The Scarlet Banner raised by a campfire, in front of a gate.

The four echoes

Each echo lies on a grave: click it and the echo goes into your bags. In a group, everyone takes their own, in any order.

The route

Keep the Monastery for last: its Graveyard and its Library are two wings side by side, so you do both in one visit. For the other three graves, start from these flight paths:

Alliance

  • Arathi Highlands: Refuge Pointe
  • Dustwallow Marsh: Theramore
  • Swamp of Sorrows: no flight path near the grave. From Darkshire, ride east through Deadwind Pass, a level 50-60 zone: stay on the road. The grave is where it comes out.

Horde

  • Arathi Highlands: Hammerfall
  • Dustwallow Marsh: Brackenwall Village, then south along the road to Theramore. It is an Alliance town, and its guards stand close to the grave.
  • Swamp of Sorrows: Stonard, then west along the road.

At level 30 the outdoor graves are above you: Arathi Highlands is a level 30-40 zone, Dustwallow Marsh and Swamp of Sorrows are 36-43. Go in a group, or mind your pulls.

At 16.8, 53.8, where the road from Deadwind Pass enters the swamp. The grave is a small wooden stick marked with a circle, against a tree trunk: it blends into the bark, so walk round the tree. A spider stands next to it.

Graveyard Echo

Scarlet Monastery

The back left corner, by the mausoleum.

In the Monastery’s Graveyard, go to the far end: the back left corner is the Forlorn Cloister, and its name shows on your minimap. A dead tree stands there against the mausoleum’s brick wall. The grave right next to it, carved with chevrons, holds the Graveyard Echo: it is the only one you can click.

The busts in the Library

In the Monastery’s Library, kill Houndmaster Loksey in the Huntsman's Cloister, then head for Arcanist Doan. Past the alcove on the left, often with a chest, turn right: you enter the Gallery of Treasures, and its name shows on screen. The four busts stand in niches along its wall. If you reach a path lined with pillars and benches, you have gone too far.

Stand right in front of a bust, within 5 yards: a buff appears and names it. Then use the echo from your bags. Count the busts from the end you came in by, on Houndmaster Loksey’s side:

  1. Use the Swamp Echo on the warrior bustThe 1st bust as you walk in. Your buff reads Warrior's Lament. The warrior bust in its niche, under its painting.
  2. Use the Arathi Echo on the mage bustThe 3rd bust as you walk in. Your buff reads Mage's Lament. The mage bust in its niche, under its painting.
  3. Use the Theramore Echo on the paladin bustThe 4th bust as you walk in. Your buff reads Paladin's Lament. The paladin bust in its niche, under its painting.
  4. Use the Graveyard Echo on the priest bustThe 2nd bust as you walk in. Your buff reads Priest's Lament. The priest bust in its niche, under its painting.

In short: the 1st bust, the 3rd, the 4th, then back to the 2nd.

Each bust lights up when its echo lands. After the fourth, a Scarlet Crusade standard stands in the middle of the gallery: click it to loot the Scarlet Banner. Agree with your group first: only one player can take it, and not necessarily the one who used the echoes.

Why this order: the busts honour four of the Monastery’s archivists, Blake Godwyn, Primwell Skye, Janet Kaitway and William Powell, in the order they served it. Each echo comes from the place where one of them died.

In Season of Discovery, a wrong order meant resetting the dungeon. Check the buff before each echo.

Other
Use: Raise a Scarlet Banner at a campsite. Requires a Campfire nearby.
Raising it
You need a campfire next to you, outdoors and out of combat. If you are a druid, leave your form first. The banner takes 10 seconds to raise and stands for 15 minutes. It stays in your bags: you can raise it again an hour later.
No bonus
The Faction Banner that tailors make gives 14 Spirit at level 30 to your faction sitting by the fire. The Scarlet Banner gives nothing: it is decoration.
What it costs
It takes one of the campfire’s places: a Basic Campfire Kit holds three objects, a Journeyman Campfire Kit five. It also starts the one-hour cooldown that every camp object shares: for an hour, you cannot put down your Faction Banner, your anvil or any other object. If your group counts on your Faction Banner or on your profession’s camp object, do not raise this one instead.
Bound and unique
One per character, and it cannot be traded.

Camping is new in Forever: the Camping page lists every campfire and what each profession brings to it. The Cozy Sleeping Bag is another hidden hunt across Azeroth.

The banner, the echoes and the busts’ buffs: the beta client (build 1.60.1.70338). The graves and the busts: players’ comments on Wowhead about the Season of Discovery hunt, which Forever reuses, and Rhysdog’s run in Forever on October 5, 2026.
