Name reservation WoW Forever
Early name reservation for WoW Forever runs from October 27 to November 3, the day before launch. If you pre-purchased a Skyborne pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection, you can create up to 3 characters now and keep their names for launch day.
Three things to know before you start:
- Names go first come, first served. Try the one you want most as soon as your region opens.
- The 3 characters count across all rulesets together, not per ruleset.
- Every character has two names, and only the full pair has to be free in your region.
| Region | Time there | Your time |
|---|---|---|
| Europe | October 27 at 6:00 PM CET | |
| North America | October 27 at 1:00 PM PDT | |
| Korea | October 28 at 7:00 AM KST | |
| Taiwan | October 28 at 7:00 AM CST |
It ends on November 3. In Korea and Taiwan, Blizzard gives October 28 to November 4, in local dates. Blizzard gives no closing hour.
Who can reserve
You need one of the three pre-purchase packs:
- Skyborne Heroic Pack
- Skyborne Epic Pack
- Warcraft Forever Collection, for a limited time
The reservation covers only the WoW account the pack was bought for. Without a pack, you create your characters at launch, on November 4.
How to reserve
Install the Forever client
In the Battle.net app, select World of Warcraft, then World of Warcraft: Forever in the Game Version menu above the Play button, and Install.
Choose a ruleset
Press Play and pick the ruleset you will play on: Normal, Player Versus Player (PVP) or Roleplaying (RP).
Create your characters
Type the first name in the Type Main Name box and the second in the Type Secondary Name box. Each character you create keeps its name for launch.
- 3 characters in all
- Across every ruleset together: two on Player Versus Player (PVP) leave one for Normal or Roleplaying (RP). The cap ends with the reservation.
- One faction on a PvP ruleset
- The game refuses a Horde and an Alliance character on the same PvP ruleset. Make your PvP characters on one side.
- First come, first served
- Blizzard guarantees no name. Have a second choice ready, or press Randomize for an idea.
My advice: settle on your first name, and keep two or three second names ready. If the pair is taken, another second name keeps the first name you wanted.
Two-part names
Forever has no realms, so every character carries two names, like a first name and a surname. The full pair must be unique in your region.
- Only the pair is unique
- Two players can both be Asha, as long as their second names differ.
- Second names can be shared
- Asha, Thalen and Mira Brightvale can all exist: a family, a guild or your alts can share one.
- The naming rules still apply
- Blizzard can refuse words, spellings, repeated letters and names that impersonate Blizzard. It checks both names together, so a banned word split across the two still fails.
- You can hide your second name
- Game Menu, Options, Nameplates, then untick My Secondary Name. Your second name then shows only in chat.
