Legacy points in WoW Forever
Your account earns Legacy Points by completing challenges. Each character spends them on its own perks, and the points you have earned also unlock cosmetics. Plan your perks and tick your challenges below.
In the beta: since October 8, every tester has the Legacy Challenge done, which gives 16 Legacy Points, so the perks can be tried without leveling several classes first. They stay until the beta ends. Blizzard’s post of October 1
How Legacy works

1. Earn points
Shared by your accountA challenge pays 1 Legacy Point the first time any of your characters completes it. There are 65 at launch, and the window opens once a first character reaches level 25.

2. Spend them on perks
Separately on each characterEvery character spends the account’s points again, in its own trees, up to 16 at launch. What your warrior spends takes nothing from your mage.

3. Collect rewards
Shared by your accountRewards count the points you have earned, spent or not. That is the reason to go past 16: the last reward asks for 55.
16 is the most one character can spend
Tick what your account has done in the challenges and this line fills up.
- 15 pointsHolstered Replica Ironforge Air RifleJoin a shootout with your air rifle. You and other players with this rifle can Stun each other. Even keeps score!
- 25 pointsSpectral Bear CubSummons a tiny spectral bear cub as your companion.
- 40 pointsSpectral Bear TabardShow your dedication with this spectral bear-themed tabard.
- 55 pointsReins of the Spectral BearSummons and dismisses an Epic rideable spectral bear mount that moves at 100% increased speed.
Visit Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet to claim your reward. Example: an account with 20 points. The warrior spends 16, a new mage spends 16 as well, and both can claim the air rifle.

Legacy challenges
All 65, from the beta client (build 1.60.1.70658). Tick what your account has done: each one pays 1 point, once. One character with two crafting professions can complete 29 of them, the rest asks for other classes and trades.

Questions
Will beta testers get Legacy Points for free?
Yes. Since October 8, every beta tester has been given the Legacy Challenge, which awards 16 Legacy Points, as many as a character can spend, so the system can be tested without first leveling different classes and clearing dungeons. The points stay until the end of the beta.
How do I earn Legacy points?
Complete Legacy challenges. Exploration, class leveling, tradeskills, PvP ranks, reputations, dungeons and raids are reported categories. The demo shows one-point rewards.
Are Legacy Points account-wide?
The points are. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap says Legacy Points are shared across all your characters, while each character spends them separately in its own trees.
Does Hardcore share Legacy Points?
One way only. Progress earned in Hardcore can become available in other rulesets, but progress from other rulesets does not flow into Hardcore. Hardcore itself comes after launch.
Can I eventually unlock everything?
Not at launch. Each character can spend up to 16 points, and up to 65 can be earned. Blizzard plans new challenges, new perks and higher caps in later patches.
Do I need several characters?
For all 65, yes. 27 challenges are the nine classes at level 25, 45 and 60, and 18 are the six crafting professions at 150, 225 and 300. One character with two crafting professions can complete 29 of the 65, which is already more than the 16 a character can spend at launch.
Does Talented give more than 51 class talent points?
No. Every rank keeps the 51-point cap. Rank 1 starts talent points at level 9 instead of 10, and each rank moves it one level earlier, down to level 5 at rank 5. The class talent calculator is unaffected.
Can I reset my choices?
Yes. The client asks "Do you want to unlearn all of your legacy perks?". In the beta, the cheapest reset costs 1 silver: as with class talents, the price rises with each reset and drops back by one reset every hour (Blizzard's notes of October 8). Talented cannot go while the character would owe talent points: the class talents come off first.
Not known yet
- Later caps
- 16 at launch. The client calls it a seasonal cap, and Blizzard says caps will grow in later patches, with no dates.
- Rank cost
- The planner counts one point per rank. The client data does not say what a rank costs.
- The 6 “?” perks
- The client has them, with no name and no effect, marked to be added in a future update.
- Talented
- In build 1.60.1.70658 it is a node with five one-rank choices, level 9 down to 5. The planner counts them as five ranks until the game shows which it is.
Perks, rank values, icons, the layout of the trees, unlock rules, challenges, their criteria and the rewards come from the beta client (build 1.60.1.70658).
